What is war of the jewels?

The War of the Jewels is a series of conflicts and battles that took place in the fictional world of Middle-earth, created by J.R.R. Tolkien. This war was fought between the Elves and Morgoth, the Dark Lord, during the First Age of Middle-earth, a time long before The Lord of the Rings era.

The war began when Morgoth stole the Silmarils, three precious jewels created by the elf Fëanor, and war broke out between the Elves and Morgoth's forces. During this time, the Elves were in alliance with the Men, who fought alongside the Elves in this war.

One of the most significant battles in this war was the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, also known as the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, in which the combined armies of Elves and Men suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Morgoth's forces. Many great heroes of Middle-earth, including Fingon, Húrin, and Túrin, fought and fell in this war.

Ultimately, Morgoth was defeated by the Valar, the gods of Middle-earth, and the Silmarils were recovered. However, the War of the Jewels marked the end of the First Age of Middle-earth, and its events would shape the history of Middle-earth for years to come.
